If the exact magniﬁcation must be documented, include a scale in the picture (18). The scale and the subject

must be at the same distance from the camera.

The camera contains separate lenses for the magniﬁcation. Each lens has the proper focal length for mini-

mum perspective distortion and more working space between the camera and subject, and a small lens aper-

ture for better depth of ﬁeld.

The depth of ﬁeld, or distance zone within which the subject will be in sharp focus, is limited in close-up

photography. The zone will extend about half its distance in front of, and half behind, the point of sharpest

focus.

Note: The camera has a ﬁxed shutter speed of 1/50 sec.
